Book presentation in Florence
On 5 May 2026, Carin Salerno, author of “The World of Women Tuscany” presented the book to the public in the beautiful Oblate Library, behind Florence Cathedral.We were hosted in the Sibilla Aleramo Room named after a writer, poet and pioneer of feminism in Italy.
In her book “Una donna” published in 1906, Sibilla Aleramo denounced the subjugation of women, domestic violence, and called for women’s emancipation. 120 years later, these issues are sadly still relevant.
In addition to the personalities planned in the programme and the President of the Association of Swiss citizen in Florence,
Marianne Strohmeyer,
the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, paid us a surprise visit.
All the speakers praised the book, its concept that invites us to discover Tuscany off the beaten tracks, but above all the courageous and creative women whose stories are told in the book, and who contribute to making the Region so prosperous, welcoming and interesting.
